Hi, I’m Michael Finger and I’m a freelance photojournalist. I live in Montmorency, in the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne and I offer a range of photography services in Melbourne to help you achieve the results you’re after. As a kid, I had a camera from about the age of 10. It was an Agfa 110 film camera. I then progressed to 35mm a couple of years after. At this time I was aiming for good composition because these cameras were fixed focus, auto exposure.
hen I started VCE at Croydon Secondary College I got deeply into fully manual cameras. Specifically, the Minolta SRT-101. The school had these on offer as well as unlimited Ilford film. All I needed was to pay for my own Ilford paper. Though when I began using more than the stocked amount for a student, I started buying my own in bulk boxes.
Lucky for me this same camera system is what my Dad had at home. He was a very serious hobbyist and had a range of lenses he offered for me to use. I’d go on country trips with him and learn new ways of capturing life through my lens. This included Rally and other motor sports.
I started by combining my passion for motorsports and my studies in photography. This compelled me to tell the story of events from grass roots to the World Rally Championship.
To become an experienced Photographer in Melbourne my skills were further developed studying a Diploma of Photography at Photography Studies College Melbourne. Over recent years I have been producing portfolios for fashion, glamour models and contributing to publications.
